In order to enable a systematized data collection and a comparative overview of selected visual material, statements and textual information, we have developed a multidimensional, topological matrix that is suitable for combining different sources in relative location to form spatial positional relationships of thematic complexes. As an information architecture and a form of representation of spatial data, it provides the basis for an integrative, scientific and artistic processing of the data and results evaluated in advance. Within the research project, the topological matrix represents the interface between the research, travel and evaluation phases, because it creates relations beyond biographical, spatial references.
